About the role
- Commercial Credit Manager leading a team in evaluating and managing commercial credit relationships at M&T Bank. Responsible for credit policy adherence and independent credit quality assessments.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of credit professionals in evaluating, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of commercial credit relationships
- Ensure adherence to credit policies and maintaining portfolio quality
- Provide independent credit quality assessment of the Bank's largest commercial clients
- Evaluate credit risks and corresponding risk ratings through detailed financial analyses
- Responsible for day-to-day activities of a Commercial Credit team
- Maintain quality of analyses produced and mentor team members
- Meet with clients when appropriate and provide ongoing training to the team
- Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- 9 years related experience with 3 years work leadership/supervisory experience
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in financial modeling and risk assessment tools
- Experience with complex credit structures and syndicated loans
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with credit risk rating models and loan / portfolio management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
