Technical Principal responsible for enterprise architecture at GM Financial, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and govern architecture patterns.
Responsibilities
Serve as a senior enterprise architecture authority, defining and governing North Star and Reference Architecture Patterns that demonstrate industry-leading best practices aligned to GM Financial business and technology objectives
Define enterprise-wide architecture principles, standards, and design goals, providing hands-on leadership in documenting and diagramming logical, physical, integration, and process architectures across multiple business domains
Own the reference pattern lifecycle—from ideation and validation through adoption, measurement, and continuous improvement
Provide technology leadership and architectural oversight for the shared services portfolio, spanning multiple cross functional initiatives supporting strategic growth, scalability, resilience, and regulatory compliance
Partner with platform teams to ensure shared services are productized, consumable, secure, and aligned with enterprise reference architectures
Define and govern AI enabled reference architectures, including GenAI, ML platforms, intelligent automation, decisioning, and analytics—ensuring responsible, secure, and scalable adoption
Establish architectural patterns for AI integration, including model hosting, prompt orchestration, API enablement, data pipelines, MLOps, model governance, observability, and cost management
Collaborate with Data, Risk, Security, and Legal partners to embed AI ethics, explainability, regulatory compliance, and data privacy into enterprise patterns by design
Act as a key liaison across Lines of Business, Cloud Platform Services, Security, IT Delivery, Solution Architecture, Data Architecture, Risk, Operations, and Corporate Functions to align architecture decisions across programs and portfolios
Identify and advise on emerging technologies—including cloud, AI, data platforms, and integration tooling—that reduce cost, improve resiliency, enhance security, and increase business value
Lead or support proofs of concept, reference implementations, and architectural spikes to validate new patterns before enterprise adoption
Evangelize architecture standards and reference patterns through presentations, architecture reviews, written guidance, and direct engagement with engineering teams
Play a lead role in shaping, governing, and actively participating in GM Financial’s Global Architecture Council (GAC)
Represent GM Financial architecture in internal leadership forums and external industry engagements as appropriate
Requirements
Experience architecting and delivering solutions across multiple enterprise architecture domains (application, data, technology, and infrastructure)
Experience designing and delivering Azure cloud native architectures, including APIs, microservices, containers, and event-driven systems
Working knowledge of financial services architectures, data management practices, and regulatory considerations
Hands on experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and Tools such as TOGAF, C4, LeanIx, ArchiMate, or equivalent
Experience architecting enterprise shared services including Identity & Access Management, Content Management, Entity Management, Logging, Monitoring, and Observability
Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data, Information Security, or related field
Greater than 10 years in related function required
3-5 years leading through mentorship in related field required
3-5 years leading projects and initiatives through influence required
