About the role
- Senior Accountant managing key financial functions such as monthly closings and reconciliations. Supporting C-Store operations with a focus on retail and food service accounting in Texas.
Responsibilities
- Perform financial, general and cost accounting functions for the company in accordance with GAAP and Corporate policies.
- Execute monthly financial closings including journal entry preparation, bank and account reconciliations, and variance analysis with communicated timelines.
- Maintain cash flow trackers for various companies with forecast; Request advances of funds as needed while minimizing financing expenses.
- Assist in maintaining the Company's system of support documentation for all company transactions.
- Monthly and quarterly account analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual sales tax returns.
- Analyze customer behavior and profitability metrics via various software and databases.
- Assist in the development of financial reports such as but not limited to the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow reporting and ad-hoc requests.
- Processing payroll and preparing journal entries to assign to direct and indirect labor.
- Billing customers for work finalized through key milestones of the project.
- Other duties as needed by the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Accounting, CPA eligibility preferred
- Previous experience in convenient store, retail or food service accounting is highly valued
- Ability to work within ambiguous details in regards to financial information.
- Self-starter with attention to detail is required.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, customer orientation and exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative.
- Ability to effectively present information and to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) with all levels within the organization and with external customers/vendors.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a variety of situations.
