Responsibilities
Develop case strategies, draft all legal pleadings, motions, discovery, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials.
Collaborate with claims adjusters to provide legal guidance and ensure claims are defended efficiently.
Collaborate with your legal assistant and paralegal to meet deadlines for discovery, hearings and all other required matters.
Handle all facets of discovery, which includes interrogatories, requests for admissions, requests for production, and conducting witness depositions, including expert testimonies.
Conduct thorough legal research on applicable laws, regulations, and case precedents related to personal injury protection claims.
Stay current with changes in insurance and property damage with local and state laws.
Analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, concise, and practical advice to the claims team.
Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and other parties involved in PIP, glass or collision claims.
Communicate with opposing counsel, attend court hearings, and represent the company's interests in legal proceedings.
Address any client inquiries or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Attend, conduct and represent the company in all depositions, hearings, and trials as necessary to represent the company's interests and advocate for favorable outcomes.
Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed records of all assigned cases and related legal activities.
Utilize case management software to maintain comprehensive and organized records of each matter.
Caseload is 95% PIP and 5% glass/collision.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school required.
Admission and in good standing with the Florida bar
Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law with a focus on PIP litigation.
Experience in glass and collision
Strong knowledge of insurance regulations and laws.
Excellent research, writing, negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Proficiency in legal research tools and software; Time Matters preferred.
