Vice President responsible for multi-site water and wastewater operations in Michigan and Indiana. Leading strategic growth and financial health across municipal and private facilities.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop regional managers, project managers, and plant managers responsible for operating multiple water and wastewater facilities.
Set clear goals, standards, and priorities for safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the portfolio.
Provide executive oversight for multi-site operations, guiding troubleshooting, optimization, and adoption of best practices.
Own P&L for the operations group, including budgeting, revenue growth, cost control, and margin improvement.
Drive financial accountability down to regional and project managers, ensuring they understand how to run their part of the business.
Build and nurture relationships with key municipal and private clients, serving as an executive-level point of contact.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities and expansions, including renewals, add-on services, and new sites.
Lead or support negotiations for major contracts, renewals, and pricing adjustments.
Partner closely with internal engineering and construction teams.
Represent the company in industry settings and forums, reinforcing a strong reputation in the water/wastewater community.
Foster a culture of professional growth, technical excellence, and leadership development.
Requirements
A minimum of 10+ years of experience in water or wastewater operations, including multi-site leadership and responsibility for a broad team.
At least 5+ years in senior-level management with P&L accountability and comfort making business decisions.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in water/wastewater operations is also acceptable.
Hands-on understanding of how treatment plants actually run, paired with the ability to step back and lead strategically.
Advanced water/wastewater operations certifications or equivalent experience in Michigan, Indiana, or comparable regulatory environments.
Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build trust, navigate sensitive issues, and maintain long-term relationships.
A collaborative, coaching leadership style that emphasizes communication, development, and shared problem-solving.
Ability to travel regularly within Michigan and Indiana to visit sites, meet with clients, and connect with internal teams.
