Responsibilities
- Define and own the North American Risk Operations Strategy
- Translate strategy into clear OKRs, roadmaps, and operating plans
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing leadership team in the US
- Create a culture of ownership, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement
- Own end-to-end operational performance for North America payments risk operations
- Oversee design and execution of merchant underwriting and monitoring
- Partner with global legal, risk, and compliance teams
- Work with Product and Engineering to evolve risk tooling
- Champion automation and AI to speed up decisions and improve effectiveness
- Represent Airwallex Risk Operations in key deals, escalations, and audits
- Influence decisions on product launches and business models
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in payments / fintech / acquiring
- 3+ years people management experience
- Deep expertise in consumer fraud / transaction risk
- Deep expertise in merchant risk / credit risk
- Proven track record managing senior ICs in multi-location teams
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive outcomes in high-growth environments
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience balancing risk appetite with commercial objectives
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
