Responsibilities
Builds long-term relationships with local government officials and key community stakeholders
Partners with nonprofits, trade associations, and community groups to enhance the company’s reputation
Responds to requests for assistance from local government officials and key community stakeholders
Contacts and confers with local government officials to influence the passage, defeat, or amendment to local ordinances or legislation
Develops and provides presentations to local governing bodies during public meetings
Assists Duke Energy business units in the siting and construction of company infrastructure projects
Develops and implements a local giving strategy to strategically deploy company philanthropic funds
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Communications or other related field
minimum seven (7) years of relevant work experience
In lieu of required degree, High School/GED and minimum ten (10) years relevant work experience
prior public affairs and advocacy experience
experience working with local governments
experience developing and implementing government relations and public affairs strategies
analytical/problem-solving skills
extensive & thorough knowledge of electric distribution and transmission systems & grid operations
comprehensive financial and business acumen.
