Lead Hardware Engineer managing the hardware development lifecycle for innovative camera systems. Oversee product development from concept to production with a focus on embedded software and hardware design.
Responsibilities
**Hardware Development: **Lead the full product development lifecycle from concept to production, including electronics, firmware/software, and enclosure design.
**New Products:** Design new products to expand Timescapes’ hardware catalog.
**Embedded Software: **Create and maintain software across high-level software applications, embedded linux systems, and low level microcontroller firmware.
**Existing Products: **Refine & improve existing established Timescapes products
**Partner Management:** Manage & coordinate with external industrial design and contract manufacturing (CM) partners.
**Manufacturing Support:** Collaborate with manufacturing houses to oversee prototype builds, testing procedures, and production transition.
**Supply Chain:** Establish relationships with suppliers locally and overseas for core components such as batteries, modules, and cable assemblies.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration: **Work with supply chain and logistics teams to support production, component sourcing, and distribution.
**Documentation: **Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, build instructions, test plans, and manufacturing guides.
Requirements
**Educational Background:** Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical field.
**Product Development: **Experience bringing a product from concept all the way to market.
**Project Management:** Proven experience in managing not just the electrical & firmware design, but coordinating mechanical designers, manufacturers & post-release lifecycle support.
**Proven Hardware Experience: **Demonstrated experience (ideally 5+ years) in embedded hardware development, including schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, testing, and debugging complex systems.
**Embedded Linux Expertise: **Strong hands-on experience with Yocto embedded Linux development, including kernel configuration, device trees, root filesystem customization.
**Broad Technical Skills: **Solid understanding across various hardware domains: digital/analog circuits, power management, communication interfaces and system integration.
**Security Knowledge:** Experience designing secure IoT systems and best practices.
**Ownership & Initiative:** Ability to own projects end-to-end, manage competing priorities, and work effectively with significant autonomy.
**Manufacturing Experience: **Proven understanding of DFM/DFT principles and direct experience working with contract manufacturers (CMs) and external design partners.
**Regulatory Compliance: **Knowledge and experience taking products through certification processes (e.g., CE, FCC, RCM, UL).
**Problem-Solving & Drive: **Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills with a curious, growth-oriented mindset in a fast-paced environment.
**Communication & Collaboration: **Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly articulate technical concepts.
