Hardware Engineer/Principal Engineer on Sentinel program at Northrop Grumman, designing custom and commercial-off-the-shelf systems in Colorado Springs or Manhattan Beach.
Responsibilities
Join the Sentinel Program's Command and Control (C2) Hardware Engineering team
Support a team of Hardware, Electrical, and Mechanical responsible engineers
Incorporate edits and redlines to existing designs
Facilitate ingest of supplier drawings into the Sentinel program tool set and workflow
Develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals
Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and cost
Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development
Make layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures
Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
Identify design errors, omissions, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design layout
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience, or Master's with 0 years of experience, or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application
Must have at least 1 year of experience in generating 3-dimensional CAD models of electronic components and assemblies using tools such as Siemens NX
Must have at least 1 year of experience generating and releasing engineering artifacts into Product Lifecycle Management systems such as Siemens TeamCenter
Must have familiarity with the application of industry standards for mechanical modeling and engineering release such as ASME Y14.24
Experience interpreting supplier engineering drawings and specification sheets
Experience analyzing requirements and interface documentation
