About the role
- Hardware Engineer/Principal Engineer on Sentinel program at Northrop Grumman, designing custom and commercial-off-the-shelf systems in Colorado Springs or Manhattan Beach.
Responsibilities
- Join the Sentinel Program's Command and Control (C2) Hardware Engineering team
- Support a team of Hardware, Electrical, and Mechanical responsible engineers
- Incorporate edits and redlines to existing designs
- Facilitate ingest of supplier drawings into the Sentinel program tool set and workflow
- Develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals
- Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and cost
- Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development
- Make layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures
- Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
- Identify design errors, omissions, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design layout
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience, or Master's with 0 years of experience, or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in generating 3-dimensional CAD models of electronic components and assemblies using tools such as Siemens NX
- Must have at least 1 year of experience generating and releasing engineering artifacts into Product Lifecycle Management systems such as Siemens TeamCenter
- Must have familiarity with the application of industry standards for mechanical modeling and engineering release such as ASME Y14.24
- Experience interpreting supplier engineering drawings and specification sheets
- Experience analyzing requirements and interface documentation
