Life Cycle and Materiel Manager overseeing engineering support for marine mechanical systems with Thales. Maximizing system efficiency while maintaining compliance for the Royal Canadian Navy.
Responsibilities
Performing Life Cycle and Materiel Management functions including but not limited to equipment obsolescence, material compatibility issues, alternate part investigations, maintenance management, and disposal management;
Supporting and managing activities associated with the design and configuration control of the vessels including conducting functional and physical configuration audits, as well as deviations and waivers documentation;
Providing technical advice to enable auxiliary and mechanical equipment and/or systems to be correctly operated or maintained;
Monitoring systems and equipment performance through various reports such as but not limited to Unsatisfactory Condition Reports (UCRs), Pre-installation failures (PIFs) and technical investigations (TIs) conducted by the customer;
Ensuring proper level of spares are maintained throughout the life of the systems and equipment; support the cataloguing process;
Conducting technical investigations into problems associated with marine auxiliary, propulsion, steering and other mechanical systems, equipment and/or software issues, including failure analysis and solution recommendation;
Developing and reviewing technical documentation including equipment specifications, installation and maintenance instructions, test and trials agendas, and engineering change documentation and drawings;
Analyzing requirements associated with baseline changes to the ships configuration, equipment and software;
Liaise with OEMs, Service Providers and ship staff to support the investigation and resolution of defects;
Preparing documented work scopes, suitable for the solicitation of quotations from external resources such as OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, testing facilities or specialist service providers;
Preparing and managing Work Packages and cost estimates for customer approval.
Requirements
Minimum education requirements: 3-year technical program diploma (for Technologists) or 2-year technical program diploma (for Technicians) in a marine mechanical technical field offered by a recognized technical institute; or Certified a technologist or technician by a recognized provincial, state, or federal (national) licensing body in a relevant field or certified body; or Certified as one of the following marine technical trades of the Canadian Armed Forces: RQ-PO1 or RQ-PO2 Marine Technician QL 6A or 7 Marine Engineer
Possess a minimum 8 years of demonstrated professional work experience in the naval, marine, or offshore industry within the last 15 years.
Extensive knowledge of marine auxiliary systems including but not limited to Propulsion, Steering Systems, Black and Gray Water, HVAC, Refrigeration
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
Familiar with safety standards;
Strong communication skills (oral and written);
Language: English (Essential).
