About the role
- Structures Design Technician supporting the delivery of bridges and structural improvement projects for Suffolk County Council. Collaborating with various stakeholders and ensuring compliance with key legislation throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- support the delivery of bridges and structural improvement projects from initial investigation through to detailed design
- work closely with project managers, engineers, councillors, external specialists and local communities
- produce technical drawings and bills of quantities
- prepare risk assessments and essential documentation that enables Infrastructure Operations teams to get to work on site
- ensure schemes progress smoothly by coordinating with statutory bodies, monitoring site activities, keeping data systems accurate and supporting compliance with key legislation
Requirements
- A solid technical foundation with a Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline and developing skills in AutoCAD, GIS, and data management systems.
- An analytical and detail‑focused mindset.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Good organisational and planning abilities.
- A flexible, proactive and safety‑conscious approach, with the ability to adapt to new challenges.
