About the role

  • Management Accountant ensuring timely financial reporting in a hybrid work environment at a leading online pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate and timely management accounts for a defined division of the business, meeting all reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare and review accruals, prepayments and profit and loss analysis to support month‑end close.
  • Perform variance analysis against budget and forecast, providing clear explanations and insight.
  • Develop and maintain cost reporting, working with stakeholders to understand cost drivers, challenge spend and support future forecasting.
  • Complete balance sheet and control account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns in line with statutory requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships across Finance, including Cost, Commercial and Purchase Ledger teams, to ensure timely and accurate information flow.
  • Support the Finance Manager and Head of Finance with financial reporting, ad‑hoc analysis and business projects.
  • Assist with financial year‑end processes and the annual audit.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by strengthening financial controls, processes and ways of working, and supporting the development of the wider team.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, organised and able to manage competing priorities while working to tight deadlines.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to understand business drivers and challenge the status quo constructively.
  • Confident communicator, able to build effective relationships and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability, taking responsibility for objectives and seeing tasks through to completion.
  • Adaptable and flexible, comfortable working in a fast‑paced and changing environment.
  • Experience working in a highly controlled, compliant environment, adhering to company and ethical standards.
  • Experience supporting or leading others, with a collaborative and hands‑on approach to teamwork and development.
  • Part‑qualified or qualified (or equivalent experience) in ACCA, CIMA or ACA, with advanced Excel skills and experience in a relevant finance role.
