About the role
- Senior Technical Writer at Apex Fintech Solutions developing API documentation for financial infrastructure products. Collaborating across teams to ensure accuracy and clarity of technical content.
Responsibilities
- responsible for the development of technical documentation to support Apex's platform, including our APIs and the clients who use them
- produce content for developer audiences
- support rapid software-development cycles
- update and create new technical content for the Apex API and our externally facing knowledge base
- partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Technical Content Management, and other key stakeholders across Apex
- ensure the accuracy and completeness of our documentation
- lead by example, consistently delivering high-standard content that adheres to our writing guidelines
- mentor less experienced team members
- identify opportunities for increased efficiency and enhancements to our content offerings
- uphold best practices and professionalism, even under pressure
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher (in English, technical communications, computer science, or a similar field)
- 7+ years of experience as a technical writer for a developer audience at a fast-paced software company
- Proven experience writing detailed, user-centered API and programming documentation in a fast-paced software environment
- Outstanding ability to grasp and communicate interrelationships between topics clearly and meaningfully and to present information in a logical hierarchy and in a consistent manner
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple focus areas and tasks
- Enthusiasm for cross-functional collaboration with people at all levels of an organization
- Courage to advocate for yourself and for our user’s needs, backing your opinions with experience and facts
- A bias for action and a positive attitude with an innate and finely tuned attention to detail
- Current knowledge of the evolving style of technical documentation and enablement resources for developer audiences
- Ability to work in US time zones (ideally Central Standard Time)
- Experience with Markdown or another markup language, GitHub, Jira, and Swagger
- One or more programming languages (Java, Go, Python, Typescript)
- A strong writing portfolio to demonstrate these skills.
