About the role
- Manager overseeing data science function in Electric System Predictive Analytics team at PG&E. Leading predictive modeling initiatives to enhance risk practices for electric operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the data science function, using predictive modeling, machine learning (ML), optimization, simulation and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for enterprise decision-making
- Leads the development of expertise and knowledge in data science and technology development of large data sets
- Manages data scientist teams
- Works with enterprise leaders to identify and solve business problems
- Ensures compliance with standards and processes for quality and timeliness of models
- Acts as peer reviewer for code scripts and model development
- Conducts risk-evaluation studies of model impact on business outcomes
- Monitors the development of data science, ML, AI, and similar emerging technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or equivalent field
- 2 years hands-on experience in data science (or no experience, if possess Advanced Degree)
- 2 years of leadership experience in data science
- Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or equivalent field (Desired)
- Utility industry experience, electric or gas, or other job-related (Desired)
- 3 years Experience with data science and machine learning algorithms (Desired)
- Experience with statistics, artificial intelligence, software engineering (Desired)
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex analysis to diverse audiences
- Ability to apply project management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level
- Domain expertise in electric, customer, generation, procurement, gas, risk, etc. (Desired)
