Senior Thermal Hydraulics Consultant developing thermal hydraulics models for nuclear plants. Managing projects while providing technical expertise and client support in a hybrid role.
Responsibilities
Developing new and existing thermal hydraulics models of nuclear plants using a variety of modelling codes
Performing analysis of fault sequences and other system transients to inform design decisions and support safety case submissions
Providing technical expertise in understanding the complex thermal-hydraulic phenomena predicted by the modelling
Providing model validation support and guidance
Managing all aspects of technical projects, including client communication, project delivery and other staff involved in the project
Developing new business by responding to enquiries and writing bids, and representing Frazer-Nash at client meetings, conferences and seminars
Requirements
Solid understanding of fluid flow, heat transfer, thermal hydraulics and multi-phase flows
Experience of applying and understanding nuclear thermal hydraulics systems codes (e.g. RELAP, GOTHIC, CATHARE, TRACE, VIPRE, S5K) to support the design and/or operation of nuclear power plants
A degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related discipline, or a similar level of relevant experience
The ability to independently manage and deliver projects to meet customer requirements
Experience of writing proposals, client liaison and business development
Adept at communicating with clients and others at all levels, including through meetings and presentations, written reports, commercial bids and technical discussions
An ability to code using python, matlab or other software languages, to support or optimise analysis and simulation (preferred)
Experience of providing technical and commercial leadership for small project teams (preferred)
A relevant post-graduate degree (preferred)
