Manage major donor relationships and funding strategies for Food for the Hungry in Eastern US. Oversee grant writing and develop donor communication strategies.
Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, organizing, and providing a critical role in identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with FH’s major donors, foundations, and major donor prospects in the Eastern US, for the purpose of securing major funding for the organization.
Develop and implement a “moves management” strategy for each major donor and foundation in the assigned case load.
Track donor contact which includes activities such as monitoring number of face-to-face visits, phone calls, emails, personalized correspondence, funding proposals presented, new donor inquiries, etc.
Communicate to potential and existing major donors, as well as foundations, about field programs and emergency relief needs and encourage donors to contribute through cash donations, investment securities, real estate, life insurance products, endowments, trusts, or bequests.
Conduct personal visits with major donors and foundations. To include travel, as necessary, with staff and donors to relief and development sites around the world.
Organize regional donor activities and visits.
Work with Sr. Director of Stewardship & Philanthropy to assign responsibilities for personal solicitation to members of executive staff or volunteer organizations, according to special interest or capabilities.
Assist with special events as approved by the Senior Director of Stewardship & Philanthropy.
Raise $1m+ annually.
Attend departmental meetings and one-on-one meetings with Senior Director of Stewardship & Philanthropy.
Draft grant proposals for financial consideration, providing the necessary information outlined in reporting requirements.
Create, with the Sr. Senior Director of Stewardship & Philanthropy, a comprehensive strategy from prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of non-cash donations.
Provide oversight to relationship with financial partners facilitating non-cash donations.
Fulfill a non-cash donations goal in accordance with Major Funding’s overall goal.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Significant years of related experience, with at least several years in a global organization.
Five years of grant writing experience.
Non-profit ministry experience a plus.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master’s degree is a plus.
CFRE preferred.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
