Responsibilities
Organise interpreting services with the help of the existing interpreting pool and under the supervision of the Lead of the Interpretation Unit for online, hybrid or on-site meetings and events
Lead assigned projects and deliver them to the highest level of quality, on time and within budget
Lead teams of interpreters, when applicable, either online or on-site
Support FIFA’s Interpretation Unit with the expansion of the existing pool of interpreters and network depending on the evolving needs
Study the feasibility and execution of projects (meeting and event formats, requirements, budgets and availability of freelancers)
Draft cost estimations, participate in budgeting processes and control the budget execution
Establish interpreting plans and assign interpreters depending on projects
Control quality and draft reports
Build positive and professional relationships with freelancers (interpreters) while applying FIFA Interpreter Guidelines
Build professional relationships with requesters and FIFA stakeholders while offering the best solutions depending on the formats and needs of requesters
Participate in the relevant tender and procurement procedures to select the interpreting platform and interpreting equipment suppliers
Place requests in FIFA’s interpreting management system (IMS) whenever needed/applicable
Inform and train colleagues about the use of IMS
Evaluate, implement and optimise AI-assisted interpretation tools and quality-control tools
Be at the forefront of new automatic interpretation tools on the interpretation market and remain open to new technologies
Take part in testing processes of new AI-assisted interpretation tools
Identify workflow automation opportunities and recommend efficiency enhancements
Monitor AI tool performance, provide structured feedback and support system optimisation
Contribute to internal guidelines and best practices for responsible and effective AI use
Support the development of the IMS platform
Possess a strong understanding of interpretation technologies and digital workflow solutions
Requirements
At least three years’ practical experience as an interpreting manager or similar experience in the language industry
Strong interpreting management experience, ideally similar experience within major project events or international sport events (e.g. FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, regional multisport events or regional football tournaments)
Fluency in English and in Spanish or French is a must
Knowledge of any additional language is an asset
Interest in sport and football is a plus
Master’s degree or similar education level in language industry (translation/terminology/interpreting)
Client-oriented, efficient and effective (knowing how to adapt the service level to different projects)
Able to withstand pressure and last-minute changes
Proficient in working with interpreting platforms (Interactio, Kudo, Interprefy, etc.)
Proficient in working with Zoom and in using the interpreting function
Proficient in working with Infrared interpreting equipment systems
Open to AI-assisted tools
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools
Willingness to travel at least one month per year
