About the role

  • Senior Financial Analyst focused on financial reporting and budget forecasting for operating investments. Collaborating across finance and operational teams in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting our 3rd party full cycle day-to-day accounting which includes review of journal entries, accruals, reviewing accounts payable, oversight of bank reconciliations, HST reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Review monthly billings, invoicing, or revenue schedules and provide value‑added financial insights as required.
  • Review and validation of contract, agreement, or system setups related to revenue and cost recoveries, including internal audit support where applicable.
  • Oversight of monthly cash flow projections and cash distributions to institutional investors.
  • Oversee the month end close process and timeline, including the review and commentary of monthly financial statements and financial reports, as well as monthly variance analysis and discussion to support actual to budget variances.
  • Assist with year-end audit processes through the preparation of audit working papers.
  • Driver based commentary and analysis of budget to variance actuals.
  • Help lead the financial planning & analysis (FP&A) for the 10-year plan including detailed review of budget assumptions and value add budget insight.
  • Partner with operational and business teams to support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic reforecasts.
  • Critically review budget assumptions across different asset classes for accurate/complete budgets.
  • Generate and review the monthly reporting dashboard for senior management review.
  • Document a process to ensure compliance across different funds based on partnership agreements.
  • Assist the reporting team in tracking, summarizing and analyzing year over year asset management fees including completeness of fees charged to investors as part of compliance work.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements or efficiencies.
  • Support the debt/capital monthly treasury function and other ad hoc reporting related duties.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant technical discipline.
  • CPA designated, with 3+ years of relevant experience in the industry.
  • Experience supporting operating, investment, or project-based finance environments is an asset.
  • Strong excel skills and ability to create professional PowerPoint presentations.
  • Understanding of statement of earnings, balance sheet, cash flows, etc.
  • Genuinely curious with a desire to understand key metrics and drivers.
  • High attention to detail, understanding of accounting principles, ASPE, GAAP, etc.
  • Strong customer focus with excellent relationship building and a collaborative working style.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to handle competing deliverables, with accurate/timely delivery under tight timelines.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity.
