Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and evolution of Backcountry's cross brand design system with a focus on clarity, scalability, and accessibility
- Drive discovery with product and engineering by researching user needs, mapping journeys, and identifying opportunities
- Design customer experiences across the full funnel including exploration, evaluation, purchase, and post purchase
- Prototype quickly using AI native tools that support generative exploration, automated insights, and rapid iteration
- Conduct and synthesize research through user interviews, testing, surveys, and behavioral analysis
- Collaborate with engineering in a scrum environment to ensure high quality implementation and alignment from concept to launch
- Partner with marketing to unify brand expression and improve consistency across campaigns and site experiences
Requirements
- A strong portfolio demonstrating end to end product design, research depth, complex workflows, and refined craft
- Expert level proficiency in Figma including component architecture, variants, and design system structure
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods and the ability to translate findings into actionable insights
- Ability to design intuitive and intelligent AI powered experiences including adaptive UI and human in the loop patterns
- Comfort working closely with engineers and product managers in an agile environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain design rationale to technical and non technical audiences
- Fluency in AI assisted workflows including generative tools, automated heuristics checks, and rapid prototyping techniques
