About the role

  • Marketing Manager launching academic textbooks to the North American market for Bloomsbury Academic. Focused on developing and executing marketing strategies for Higher Education resources.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and execute Higher Ed marketing campaigns by working with external vendors as well as internal resources.
  • Manage seasonal, annual, and channel-specific audience marketing plans aligned with sales and long-term growth goals.
  • Create compelling marketing materials that position Bloomsbury Academic titles effectively to an external audience market, support course adoption efforts, and drive engagement from instructors and students.
  • Tailor campaigns and messaging for key academic audiences based on market research and user insights.
  • Facilitate communication with editorial, sales, and marketing to ensure effective campaign execution.
  • Analyze campaign performance and marketing metrics to optimize strategy, improve effectiveness, and inform future campaigns.
  • Work with author and content to create digital campaigns, such as author Q&As, webinars, and videos, and then promote to faculty via digital channels.
  • Help plan and execute comprehensive marketing programs, including: Content marketing, Social media strategy, Email marketing, Digital advertising, Virtual and in person events and conference marketing, Webinar planning and execution, Advertising and promotional initiatives, Sales enablement materials to support the Higher Education sales team.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Editorial, and other departments to support textbook positioning and adoption strategies.
  • Manage marketing and sales budgets effectively. Support list research, copyediting, and coordination with design and engagement teams as needed.
  • Work with outside vendors and internal teams to execute campaigns and ensure consistent branding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 4+ years of marketing or publishing experience, ideally in academic or trade publishing.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with platforms such as Biblio, Monday.com, Mailchimp, Salesforce, Discovery Database, MDR, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences and events.
