Senior Systems Engineer leading perception validation efforts for autonomous vehicle software at GM. Collaborating on defining requirements and developing testing strategies for perception capabilities.
Responsibilities
Define requirements and metrics for validating perception software to enable safe and comfortable autonomous vehicle operations.
Own analysis and characterization of perception systems, influencing software development and launch decisions
Prototype and develop simulation-based and road-based testing strategies that support continuous and scaled software release cycles
Combine experience in systems engineering and data analysis to facilitate data driven design, validation, risk analysis, and prioritization decisions
Own roadmaps for developing long-term and stable requirements, verification/validation, and/or software solutions to advanced problems over multiple product lifecycles
Mentor team members and facilitate cross-team collaboration to define perception validation strategies for new launches
Requirements
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields
7 + years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, or other related fields
Proficient with SQL, Python, and C++ for analyzing large data sets
Experience with evaluating machine-learned systems and setting acceptance criteria on perception systems, state estimators, or similar robotics functions
Subject matter expertise in common detection and classification evaluation metrics such as precision, recall, and footprint overlap
Experience with vehicle dynamics and deriving requirements based on physics or other first principles
Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity, going from quick code prototypes to long-term plans on brief time horizons
Excellent communication skills, capable of switching between high-level and detailed discussions.
