Structural Analysis Engineer in hybrid role at Collins Aerospace supporting aerospace product designs. Conducting structural and thermal analysis while collaborating with engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Conducts structural and thermal analysis of individual components, functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using FEA software and interprets these results on behalf of the design function, providing pertinent advice and insight into design optimizations.
Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs.
Builds structural analysis models to ensure designs meet structural design criteria margins for damage tolerance, durability, strength allowables and control of structural vibration.
May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
Requirements
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (ANSYS, ABAQUS or similar software) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
BS in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
Experience in MCAD software (NX, SolidWorks, CATIA) or similar software (preferred)
Knowledge and experience working Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Tolerance Stack up Calculation, Weight Analysis (preferred)
Ability to influence and mentor others (preferred)
Knowledge of Teamcenter (or other collaboration space) (preferred)
SAP knowledge (preferred)
Proficiency in MCAD software (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, CATIA) or similar software (preferred)
Experience in Thermal Sciences (applied and analysis) (preferred)
Experience solving complex and difficult problems (preferred)
Experience in CNC Manufacturing, Mechanical Design (preferred)
Experience interacting with Mechanical Computer Aided Design Resources (MCAD) (preferred).
