About the role
- Part-Time Family Counsellor providing trauma-informed counselling to women and families. Focus on couples and family counselling with an emphasis on building safety and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Provide short-term counselling to couples and families, including parents and children
- Conduct assessments and develop appropriate counselling goals and service plans
- Support clients with issues related to communication, family conflict, parenting challenges, relationship stress, etc.
- Provide trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive counselling
- Make referrals to internal and external services as needed
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client case notes and records
- Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, and team meetings
- Maintain service data for reporting, evaluation, and program improvement
- Liaise and collaborate with community partners and other service providers as needed
- Provide support letters or service confirmation letters where appropriate
- Contribute to program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Masters or Bachelors degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
- Registration in good standing with a relevant regulatory college in Ontario, a must
- Experience providing couples counselling and family counselling
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and client-centred practice
- Experience working with women, children, and families impacted by violence, trauma, family conflict, or relational stress is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of community resources and referral pathways in York Region is an asset
- Excellent assessment, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
