Payroll Accountant managing the full payroll process for over 900 employees in Germany. Collaborating with global Finance and People teams to ensure accurate payroll submissions.
Responsibilities
Working closely with Via’s external payroll partner, drive the monthly payroll process for Via in Germany.
Understand German tax requirements, changes in wage and tax laws, and other regulatory changes and requirements that may impact payroll.
Perform periodic audits of our payroll data to ensure accuracy of employee pay information.
Ensure benefit deductions and tax withholdings are calculated and reported timely and accurately.
Lead all aspects of the monthly financial reporting process as it relates to payroll, such as preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
Serve as the main point-of-contact for employees on questions relating to pay.
Perform ad-hoc projects and other assignments as needed to support the broader team.
Exercise the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all payroll information and employee privacy initiatives.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of relevant payroll experience in Germany.
Tech-savvy, with a strong understanding of the landscape of HRIS systems like P&I Loga and proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel.
Ability to perform payroll tasks completely, accurately, and timely, with minimum supervision.
Passionate about improving processes and developing innovative solutions.

Have demonstrated experience in partnering with internal teams and juggling multiple priorities.
Great written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact and communicate across different levels of our organization.
Fluent in German and English, additional languages are a plus.
Willingness to travel to Berlin once a month to work together with the team on-site.
