Responsibilities
Provide individualized mentorship to support the personal well-being, adjustment, and growth of each ShinShin throughout the program year.
Guide ShinShinim in developing and delivering educational programming on Israeli culture, society, and Jewish peoplehood at partner institutions.
Participate in regular ShinShinim team meetings to address group dynamics, mentoring needs, and program development.
Support the planning and execution of community programs and events, ensuring alignment with UJA’s goals and timelines.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with summer camps participating in the UJA ShinShinim Program.
Manage program logistics, including transportation coordination, vulnerable sector checks, OHIP registration, stipends, winter clothing, and related operational needs.
Requirements
Strong pedagogical insight and experience in working with Israeli Teens in experiential education context.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.
Fluency in spoken and written English; high-level spoken Hebrew required.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight programs (e.g., retreats, Shabbatons).
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and partner organizations.
Advanced computer proficiency.
Deep knowledge of Israeli society and strong familiarity with the Toronto Jewish community.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are an asset.
