About the role

• Flight Payload Engineer part of the Flight Application Engineering Team at Satellogic. Focus on performance, calibration, and optimization of satellite’s payloads for global satellite operations.

Responsibilities

• Continuous monitoring and fine-tuning of primary and secondary payloads to ensure maximum throughput and data quality across the constellation.
• Providing expert technical analysis and troubleshooting for payload anomalies, coordinating with hardware and software teams to resolve complex in-orbit issues.
• Designing and executing rigorous testing procedures and benchmarks to evaluate payload performance under various orbital conditions.
• Defining, implementing, and monitoring payload health and performance metrics to proactively identify degradation or optimization opportunities.
• Leading payload initialization and calibration activities for new satellites, ensuring a smooth transition from launch to nominal mission phases.
• Working closely with the Mission Operations and Data Product teams to align payload capabilities with customer requirements and mission goals.

Requirements

• Degree (or advanced studies) in aerospace engineering, Electronic Engineering or related fields.
• Proven experience in testing, characterization, or operation of complex electronic systems (preferably on-board satellite hardware or high-performance sensors).
• Familiarity with signal processing and data acquisition systems.
• Working knowledge of Python for basic data analysis and task automation.
• Comfortable working with Bash scripting and containerization using Docker.
• Ability to process large datasets to extract performance trends and identify anomalies.
• Intermediate English proficiency level.
