About the role
- Lead AI Software Engineer developing and enhancing analytics platform tackling climate change. Collaborating with teams to drive technological innovation and improve usability in data systems.
Responsibilities
- spearhead the development of cutting-edge AI opportunities, both for internal teams and clients
- be at the forefront of AI and technology while also acting as a software engineer responsible for developing and supporting core modelling and analytics platform
- enhancing the platform by adding new features
- improving the performance and usability of data schemas
- refining data visualizations
- collaborate closely with product design, modelling, analytics, and customer-facing teams to help customers tackle climate change
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience writing clean, effective, and well-tested application code, with a strong proficiency in Python
- Proven experience in production environment with AI technologies and a strong understanding of emerging trends and research and proven ability to align it with business objectives
- Experience architecting, designing, deploying and documenting scalable and robust AI applications and ETL workflows in cloud environments
- Ability to move prototypes to scalable and secure applications in data-sensitive environments
- Experience providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Proven ability to work effectively with analysts and management to understand and overcome business and data analysis challenges
- A collaborative and iterative approach to work, with experience in an Agile/SCRUM development environment
- A strong research and development (R&D) mindset, with a passion for innovation and creative problem-solving
- A passion for new technologies and the ability to effectively integrate them within the stack when appropriate
- Familiarity with frameworks like Google ADK or Langgraph is a significant advantage
- Experience with the GCP VertexAI stack and generative AI models like Google Gemini would be a bonus
- Experience with evals for gen ai and building testing frameworks for AI applications
- Experience with React and Java Script is a plus
- Strong skills in the Pydata stack such as Pandas, Numpy, Zarr
- Familiarity with CI/CD process, source control tools and automated deployment processes
