Responsibilities
Development, analysis, and specification of membranes and CCMs for use in PEM electrolysis cells, focusing on mechanical properties.
Execution and further development of characterization methods.
Planning and execution of experimental test series, mechanical simulation, data evaluation, and derivation of actionable recommendations.
Assessment of new membrane materials and collaboration with suppliers and research partners.
Support in material qualification for existing and new products.
Documentation of results, preparation of technical reports, and presentation within an interdisciplinary team.
Close collaboration with teams in stack development, quality, and production.
Requirements
Successfully completed master’s degree or PhD in materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemical engineering or a related field.
Several years of experience in the characterization of polymers and composite materials, ideally in the field of fuel cells or water electrolysis.
Solid knowledge of ion-conducting polymers, ideally perfluorinated membranes.
Confident handling of mechanical analyses, including material behavior modeling or FEM-based approaches, supported by mechanical testing and validation methods.
Independent, structured working style and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of PEM electrolysis.
Good understanding of electrochemical systems, particularly PEM water electrolysis.
Very good written and spoken English skills; German language skills are nice to have.
