About the role
- Airfield Technical Manager at MAG responsible for lifecycle management of airfield technical assets. Ensuring safety, compliance, and strategic objectives at East Midlands Airport.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for the safe, compliant and value-driven lifecycle management of airfield technical assets
- Ensure asset management decisions balance risk, cost, performance and safety
- Act as Senior Technical Authority for Air Traffic Engineering (CNS) and AGL
- Maintain CAA Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) status
- Ensure compliance with applicable CAA CAPs, ICAO Annexes, EASA/UK regulatory frameworks
- Embed a strong safety culture
- Leadership of asset management policy and translating into clear technical strategies
- Risk-led decision making ensuring maintenance, renewal and investment decisions are evidence-based
- Own end-to-end lifecycle of airfield technical assets from specification to disposal
- Strategic ownership of the airfield technical capital investment programme
- Provide clear asset performance, risk and compliance assurance to senior leadership
- Drive continuous improvement through audits, inspections, and stakeholder feedback
Requirements
- Significant experience in airfield technical engineering, CNS and/or AGL systems within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment
- Proven capability operating as a technical authority and regulatory interface
- Strong understanding of asset management best practice, ideally aligned to ISO 55001
- Demonstrable experience managing regulatory audits, compliance assurance and safety risk
- Leadership experience with the ability to build a high-performing, safety-led engineering team
- Commercial and strategic capability across CAPEX and OPEX management
- Chartered Engineer status (or progression towards it) and formal asset management or safety qualifications are desirable.
