Responsibilities
Act as the key point of contact for designated departments, building strong relationships and providing expert, pragmatic advice on all health, safety, and well-being matters.
Support the delivery of Barnet's Safety, Health & Wellbeing priorities
Lead and support risk management activities, safety audits, inspections, and assurance reviews.
Provide coaching and capacity-building support to managers, helping them meet their statutory responsibilities with confidence.
Support incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are translated into effective, sustainable improvements.
Analyse data and trends to identify risk areas and promote proactive solutions.
Champion a positive, collaborative safety culture aligned to the Council’s values and ways of working.
Requirements
Strong experience in a health and safety role within a complex organisation, ideally public sector or local authority.
Relevant safety qualification. NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) or working towards it.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage constructively with managers, frontline services and senior leaders.
A practical, solution-focused approach that balances compliance with operational realities.
Strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to supporting a culture that puts safety and well-being at the heart of service delivery.
