About the role
- Engineering Manager leading the Nexus Team at Iterable's Lisbon R&D Hub. Responsible for critical authentication, governance, and event-driven systems within a high-performing engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team in Lisbon, fostering strong ownership and operational excellence.
- Own the reliability, scalability, and correctness of critical authentication, governance, and event-driven systems.
- Partner closely with Product, Security, Billing, and Infrastructure teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
- Coach engineers to make sound technical trade-offs without becoming the bottleneck.
- Drive best practices in architecture, observability, and incident management.
Requirements
- 2+ years of Engineering Management experience in a SaaS or platform environment.
- Strong technical foundation in backend and distributed systems (JVM ecosystem preferred).
- Experience operating production systems at scale, including on-call and incident response.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, Redis, AWS, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with authentication, permissions, or governance systems is a strong plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
