About the role
- Senior Staff Accountant in finance driving monthly close. Interacting with multiple departments and ensuring accurate accounting and reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Record the company’s business activities by preparing journal entries and supporting schedules, and maintaining records and files
- Reconcile bank statements
- Review, maintain, and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts monthly, ensuring balances and activity are complete, accurate and properly supported
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies
- Perform income statement expense allocations to departments, states, markets, etc.
- Assist with preparing schedules and providing support for the annual financial statement audit, tax returns, and other financial audits
- Cross train with, and provide back-up support to, the Billing & Revenue Accountant, the Accounting Clerk, and the AR Team
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
- Create and maintain a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual with documentation of accounting policies and processes
- Work with other departments to find solutions to problems
- Collaborate on department and company-wide initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of public accounting or 4 years of industry accounting work experience with increasing abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Table, Lookup functions, etc.) required
- Oracle NetSuite experience preferred
- Strong knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Team-oriented self-starter with a desire to learn and understand the business
- Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills and naturally inquisitive, with the ability to spot discrepancies and issues and bring them to resolution or formulate and communicate recommendations
- Ability to produce timely and accurate work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to effectively work with minimal supervision, work independently and as part of the team
- Strong organization and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize
