Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze information gathered, insurance wording and damages to determine coverage in each situation
- Assess potential civil liability of the insured and third parties in consultation with specialists
- Negotiate settlements with customers, claimants, lawyers and insurers within your authority limits
- Handle field assignments on behalf of in-house claims adjusters
- Actively support claims management and other work during high-volume periods
- Collaborate effectively with various teams including appraisal, underwriting and legal services
- Ensure effective cost management
- Stay informed about current trends in insurance products and appraisal and investigation techniques and services
Requirements
- A valid AMF licence (5a/5b)
- At least one year of experience as a home claims adjuster (telephone or field), with expertise in water and/or fire losses
- A passion for customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented approach and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong technical aptitude and excellent computer skills
- Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- A valid driver’s licence and a good driving record
- Availability for travel on short notice
- Solid understanding of insurance products
- Bilingualism (English/French): Required for regularly handling claims from English-speaking customers
