About the role

Responsibilities
- Manage multiple software engineers across all disciplines
- Report to the Head of Software Engineering
- Foster a highly engaged engineering team through regular 1-on-1s
- Be accountable for successfully onboarding new engineers
- Actively develop engineers through coaching, feedback, and targeted growth opportunities
- Set clear performance expectations and deliver regular feedback
- Partner closely with Product to maintain alignment
- Remove technical obstacles and maintain high team health
- Drive a culture of technical excellence and establish best practices
- Identify and lead improvement initiatives
- Stay connected to the craft by contributing hands-on
- Shape a productive work environment
Requirements
- Proven experience in an engineering management or team lead role
- A strong technical background as a software engineer
- Familiarity with several of the technologies in our stack: Go, Python, C++, Rust, TypeScript/Vue, Kubernetes, NATS, gRPC
- Experience building, growing, and retaining engineering teams
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and trust within and across teams
- Experience working in agile, cross-functional product teams alongside Product Managers, Designers, and Tech Leads
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- A genuine interest in people and people development
- Experience in using AI for engineering
