Civil Engineer performing design for civil engineering projects at Hargrove. Responsible for producing design calculations, reports, and collaborating with teams at the Mobile, AL office.
Responsibilities
Generally responsible for performing engineering task to support the complete design of small and large civil engineering projects using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods
This work will be performed under general supervision at our office in Mobile, AL
Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards
Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team
Producing medium complex, complete design calculations and assignments
Producing reports for client and/or regulatory agencies
Providing design assistance on larger and more complex assignments
Checking calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice
Developing conceptual layouts and cost studies
Assisting with drafting of plans and details for the completion of engineering drawings
Performing fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support
Developing written construction specifications that define the scope of work, provide specific instruction, and prescribe quality standards
Performing land development and zoning code research for civil-site development projects
Working with discipline lead engineer in identifying scope changes in projects
Reviewing and checking submittal drawings and documentation
Ability to lead small size teams in coordinating civil efforts and keeping the team focused on scope, schedule and budget
Assisting with estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of civil/structural work.
Requirements
Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required
Professional licensure is required
Engineer in Training (EIT) registration may be considered if Professional licensure can be obtained in the first six (6) months of employment
4-6 + years of relevant experience in civil-site engineering in the industrial setting
Previous experience in commercial, government, or infrastructure setting may be considered for this position
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining focus and re-prioritizing as necessary to meet multiple commitments
Knowledge and application of associated standards (ASCE, AASHTO, AREMA, NRCS, NFPA, etc.)
Ability to read and understand local and state land development codes
Working knowledge of civil stormwater analysis software (SSA, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and/or ICPR)
Ability to actively listen and ascertain the needs of Teammates and Clients
Ability to work with a team to complete small and large projects
Ability to assist with the development of presentations of Hargrove Engineers & Constructors services
Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil3D is required
Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro is a plus
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
