Product Environmental Engineer focusing on emissions test technology for Ford vehicles. Collaborating with global laboratories to ensure compliance and certifications.
Responsibilities
Work with Ford Global Laboratories to ensure that robust emissions/fuel economy measurement strategies are in place to develop and certify the diverse range of products in Ford's plan (including gasoline, diesel, and electrified products)
Conduct onsite emissions laboratory assessments and sign-offs of Ford and contract facilities to ensure conformance to corporate guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Provide ongoing support to vehicle programs and laboratory personnel with respect to regulatory interpretations, measurement analysis and laboratory assessments.
Review and interpret new regulations for emissions and fuel economy testing. Provide direction to laboratories to ensure compliance with new regulations.
Participate in different Government/Industry forums to collaborate on best practices and run special test programs.
Carry out test programs to evaluate new measurement equipment and/or vehicle technologies.
Generate assessment and sign-off reports documenting laboratory status.
Develop test procedures and local assessment procedures based on regulations and Ford best practices.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills
Ability to interact effectively with senior management and regulatory contacts, including EPA and CARB
Good problem solving skills
Self-starter, ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to support infrequent travel
Experience with emissions laboratory equipment or emissions test procedures/regulations (light duty or heavy duty) is desired
Knowledge of vehicle powertrain components and basic understanding of vehicle electrification is desired
Experience applying statistical methods is desired
