Responsibilities
Provides advanced paralegal, administrative, and clerical support to trial attorneys in ERIE’s staff counsel office.
Supports litigation matters from inception through resolution by managing case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating discovery, and assisting with trial preparation.
Performs essential clerical and administrative tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the staff counsel office.
Drafts, prepares, and assists with pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
Coordinates discovery, including document management, obtaining authorizations, deposition scheduling, and preparation of summaries and exhibits.
Conducts legal and factual research and summarizes findings for attorney review.
Assists with trial, arbitration, and mediation preparation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, witness materials, and logistics.
Manually or electronically files documents in state and federal courts and monitors deadlines to ensure compliance with court rules.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies and three years of litigation paralegal experience; or Associate degree in Paralegal Studies and five years of litigation paralegal experience; or High school diploma or equivalent and seven years of Paralegal experience required.
Six years of experience in a law firm, insurance staff counsel office, or corporate legal department preferred.
Notary Public designation preferred or willingness to obtain.
