About the role

  • Project Manager overseeing construction projects for EJF Real Estate Services. Managing capital projects, liaising with contractors, and ensuring timely delivery within budget in the Washington, DC area.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital projects from kickoff to completion, ensuring work stays aligned with scope, schedule, and budget
  • Travel (typically weekly) to project sites, located primarily in and closely around Washington, DC
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and community condo boards to keep everyone aligned and moving
  • Spot risks early, solve problems quickly, and keep boards fully in the loop with straightforward updates
  • Uphold quality standards through inspections, progress checks, and strong contractor oversight
  • Track budgets, flag variances, and ensure financial clarity at every stage
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of construction management experience
  • Experience running construction, capital, or restoration projects (or similar)
  • Communicates clearly and confidently
  • Reliable and accountable
  • Strong organizational skills; specifically with complex projects
  • Ability to manage multiple projects without losing the thread
  • Keen ability to break down complex or technical jargon into lay persons speak
  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Bonus: PMP, CCR or PMI-CP certification
