About the role
- Solution Architect designing and communicating transition roadmaps for Digital Intelligence estate. Utilizing cloud infrastructure expertise and ensuring aligned migration steps with BAE Systems standards.
Responsibilities
- Design, own, and communicate a pragmatic, risk-aware transition roadmap that moves the Digital Intelligence estate from its current state to the target architecture.
- Embed cloud-infrastructure expertise—spanning public, private, and hybrid environments—to ensure migration steps are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with BAE Systems standards.
- Assure and lead the development of solution architectures that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Manage smooth transition into operation, and mitigate technical risks in collaboration with quality and test management.
- Consult with stakeholders to evolve early solutions, uphold architecture standards, and work closely with the Chief Enterprise Architect and Head of Technology Strategy to shape initiatives that deliver a secure, resilient, and future-ready digital estate.
Requirements
- Proven experience in solution architecture and transition planning within large, regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, containerisation, infrastructure-as-code, and networking/security concepts.
- Ability to translate technical migration steps into concise, senior-level roadmaps and business cases.
- Expertise in architecture modelling and visual communication using tools such as Bizzdesign.
- Solid grasp of non-functional requirements (NFRs), technical risk management, and assurance practices.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, capable of influencing senior leaders.
- Proficiency with AI Assisted tooling
- Minimum SC clearance; DV may be required.
