About the role
- Lead BIM Manager overseeing design services for electrical substation projects at AtkinsRéalis. Engage in technical leadership and build client relationships while expanding team capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead on BIM model development and design services across a growing portfolio of Front End and Detailed Design projects for electrical substation projects
- Work in a senior position based either in Epsom, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol or remotely
- Build strong and trusted relationships
- Provide Technical Leadership on the FEED and Detail Design workstream for National Grid, SSEN-Transmission or other Transmission & Distribution clients
- Develop and deliver BIM strategy for the Transmission and Distribution sector
- Develop a team of CAD technicians to deliver high quality models and drawings
- Lead on the development of 3D BIM models, including federation, coordination, clash detection and resolution across multiple disciplines
- Lead on the preparation of 2D drawings, ensuring compliance with standards and engineering codes and practices
- Work alongside Project Information Managers to setup and manage CDE environments
- Prepare and deliver training on BIM standards and workflows
- Maintain existing and develop new client relationships
Requirements
- A degree/diploma in Engineering design, drafting or equivalent
- Experience in a leadership/management position in a similar environment
- Strong understanding and leadership of the engineering projects through asset lifecycles
- Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and design or Detailed Design of electrical substation projects
- Experience of working for a client organisation such as transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator or a design consultancy delivering to such organisation
- Experience with a variety of CAD software, such as Plant 3D, Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks Manage/Simulate, AutoCAD 2D, ReCap Pro, etc.
- An appreciation of delivery and checking of technically compliant design deliverables in accordance with the input requirements, and ability to identify design issues
- Experience of CAD delivery for high hazard industrial projects (e.g., Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, High Voltage electrical infrastructure)
- Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
