About the role
- Nuclear Engineer managing power uprate projects in Nuclear Generation Department at Duke Energy. Overseeing supplemental engineering teams and ensuring project compliance and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- manages specialized work within the Nuclear Generation Department, supporting power uprate projects at Catawba, McGuire, and Brunswick.
- provides direct oversight and integration of supplemental engineers (including contract, vendor, and temporary staff) to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and in compliance with company standards.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with site, corporate teammates, and supplemental engineering staff to effectively coordinate work activities.
- Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems, including those arising from supplemental engineering deliverables.
- Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
Requirements
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer III.
- Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer for Senior Nuclear Engineer.
- Experience overseeing supplemental engineering teams or contract/vendor staff in the commercial nuclear sector.
- Experience with onboarding, training, and integrating supplemental engineers into project teams.
- Experience with quality assurance and compliance review of external engineering deliverables.
- Proficient in principles of project management, including coordination of internal and supplemental resources.
