About the role
- Distribution Engineering Specialist at Wood focusing on Transmission & Distribution projects. Leading and supporting engineering projects in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support distribution electrical engineering projects from feasibility to construction and commissioning
- Define scopes of work, perform engineering calculations, and develop detailed design drawings
- Engineer distribution electrical projects through the entire project lifecycle from conceptual and feasibility, through detailed design, to construction and service
- Support the preparation of technical specifications, tender documents, and technical reports
- Provide construction support and overall project engineering coordination
- Respond to information requests during construction and complete project documentation
- Mentor and guide junior staff
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from a recognized university
- Professional Engineering Designation or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the province of British Columbia
- 5+ years of overhead and underground distribution engineering experience serving utilities in North America
- Knowledge of CSA/IEC/NESC Standards and major utility standards
- Proficiency in electrical design, including selection and installation of conductors, insulators, switchgear, circuit breakers, and other distribution equipment
- Experience with smart infrastructure equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to apply sound engineering judgment to resolve technical issues
- Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for high-profile projects
- Proven experience in leading a team of engineers and designers to deliver projects
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
