Network Engineer tasked with defining and implementing network communications and system improvements at Emerson. Responsible for enhancing performance and reliability of infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities
Defines, designs and implements network communications and solution improvements.
Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks.
Coordinates terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing.
Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirement. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers.
Employees focused on ensuring products (including websites) and hosted networks are designed and developed to be cyber-safe and compliant are typically matched to one of our software development engineering roles.
For cloud databases, may be matched to Storage Engineer or for hosted networks, to Network Engineer or Network Systems Administrator.
Employees focused on administering and hardening internal processes and systems against outside penetration and attack, match to Information Security.
Internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and Outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions.
Requirements
Degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field
Several years of experience in network administration and infrastructure management
Strong knowledge of firewall technologies and network protocols
Hands-on experience with network monitoring and fix tools
Experience with network hardware components and datacentres
Familiarity with IT security standards and compliance requirements
Structured and meticulous approach to documentation and organisational change
Proficiency in German and English (spoken and written)
