About the role
- Contracts Manager negotiating rights and licenses for children's and young adult publications. Handling contracts with authors, illustrators, and publishers in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Management and negotiation of rights and licenses for publications
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts with authors, illustrators, publishers, agencies and other rights holders
- Ensuring compliance with licensing agreements and copyright regulations
- Tracking license fees and settlements
- Close collaboration with the editorial and royalties departments
- Advising and coordinating on contractual matters
- Contributing to the development of internal contract processes
- Participation in cross‑group meetings on contracts and legal issues
- Ongoing development of group‑wide legal topics
- Active use of and contribution to AI‑powered tools
Requirements
- University degree and/or relevant experience in law, publishing and/or vocational training in publishing/media commerce
- Excellent knowledge of copyright and licensing law
- Strong negotiation skills and excellent communication
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Team player with flexibility
- Business‑fluent English, spoken and written
- Openness to using AI and digital tools; ideally initial experience with AI applications or a willingness to learn actively
- Digital affinity; confident user of MS Office and ideally experience with publishing software such as Pondus and SVS
