About the role
- Sr Frontend Developer collaborating with UX and engineering partners to build user-centered frontend solutions at Verisk. Focused on accessibility, performance, and maintainability.
Responsibilities
- Use markup languages like HTML to create user-friendly web pages
- Thoroughly understand software development methodology to maintain and improve website
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility, performance optimization, and accessibility best practices
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies
- Have deep familiarity with the specific challenges and needs of people with disabilities using software to get work done
- Translate technical specifications, and/or logical and physical design into code for new or enhancement projects at related meetings for internal and external clients
- Employ contemporary software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that supports automation
- Provide follow up Production support
- Thoroughly understand client business functions and technology needs and complies with IT policies and procedures
- Develop, maintain, and enhance responsive web applications using modern frontend technologies
- Implement UI components aligned with an established design system and contribute to its evolution
- Collaborate with UX designers to translate designs and prototypes into production-ready code
- Partner with backend developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless user experiences
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to frontend standards and best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve frontend issues in a timely manner
- Support iterative development in an Agile environment
Requirements
- Proven 3+ years of professional experience as a Front-end developer
- Hands on experience with markup languages (HTML5)
- Working experience with website programming languages such as JavaScript, CSS, jQuery
- Working knowledge of the Angular framework (or strong understanding with practical exposure)
- Hands-on experience developing or contributing to a design system
- Solid understanding of responsive design and modern frontend architecture
- Experience translating design specifications into clean, reusable UI components
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git/GitHub)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality UI
- Understanding of key website design principles and SEO optimization
- Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
- In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
- Experience with modern browser technologies
- Knowledge with the Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA)
- Knowledge and experience with assistive technology (JAWS, NVDA, Window Eyes, ZoomText, Voiceover) a plus
- Understanding of layout aesthetics
- An ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical, multitasking and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to designers, product owners and stakeholders without any problem as a strong communicator
- BS degree in Computer Science or relevant field
