Junior Mechanical Engineer using technical background for vehicle examinations and collision reconstructions. Working with the Collision Reconstruction Team at Pario Engineering based in Calgary, AB.
Responsibilities
Vehicle data downloads – download of vehicle diagnostic trouble codes, event data recorder data, and telematics data.
Vehicle examinations (automobile, motorcycle, heavy truck, off-road), assess and measure/survey the exterior damage, examine and assess the vehicle restraint systems, acquisition of fluid and paint samples.
Coordinate and potentially attend site investigations – photography, measuring and digital surveying.
Knowledge of the use of test equipment for site investigations such as brake testing, curve acceleration testing, visibility (day/night) testing and slip-testing equipment in the case of slip and fall accidents.
Data analysis – analysis of acquired vehicle data to understand driver and vehicle behaviours with respect to collisions.
Collision reconstruction – learning and applying computerized tools to investigate collisions including video analysis and collision simulation
Report writing – development reports concerning SIU investigations and liability investigations for insurance and legal clients.
Requirements
Graduating/recent graduate/engineer-in-training with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
Licensure in a provincial Engineering Association, or ability to become licensed a must
Must have valid G license, and ability to work in remote areas, as well as in a range of temperatures and weather conditions.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and good command of the English language.
Familiarity with PC Crash is an asset.
