Associate, Project Finance supporting all aspects of project finance function at Treaty Oak, focused on renewable energy projects. Managing financial models, negotiations, and teamwork in a growing environment.
Responsibilities
Develop and upkeep fully structured project-level financial models for multiple projects, to analyse financing / investment sizing and sponsor level performance, as well as synthesize and communicate summaries to senior team members and management
Run company-wide financial model input intake processes, effectively collaborating with all relevant teams / SMEs to efficiently collect, scrutinize, and refine all financial model inputs at various stages of project development and financings
Engage, prepare files for, and procure and review deliverables from, financing due diligence consultants (e.g., independent engineering, transmission, market, insurance, probable maximum loss, property and sales tax projections, and cost segregations and appraisals)
Develop comprehensive real-time knowledge of material project documents on live transactions (e.g. PPAs, EPC agreements, GIAs, equipment supply agreements, and O&M contracts), to be able to ensure accurate and substantiated conversion of relevant data into financial model inputs and to conduct thorough / high-quality Q&A with all stakeholders
Support ad hoc work streams relating to financier marketing, selection, negotiation, due diligence, documentation, and closing processes for debt financing and tax credit monetization transactions, as well as coordinating with all internal SMEs, external consultants, lawyers, and financing partners
Prepare marketing materials (e.g. teasers and CIMs) for third party financiers / investors
Communicate and build relationships effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders
Requirements
3+ years of renewable energy project finance experience at a leading developer, investment bank, or infrastructure investor with exposure to utility-scale projects
BS / MS in Finance, Economics, or another similarly quantitative course of study
Advanced financial modeling skills with experience building and managing project finance models incorporating tax equity structures, debt sizing, and sensitivity analysis, including the use of macros
Advanced PowerPoint presentation skills with experience preparing and presenting materials to internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of renewable energy (solar and/or storage) project economic metrics and value drivers
Familiarity with procuring and reviewing financing consultant due diligence reports
Understanding of construction-to-term debt and tax credit bridge loan financing, as well as current tax credit monetization structures and related workstreams
Outstanding critical thinking skills, inquisitiveness, work product, and proactivity / resourcefulness
Comfort working in a demanding, deal-oriented team with recurring deadlines
Ability to prioritize multiple workstreams and operate effectively in a fast transaction-driven environment
