About the role

  • Accountant managing financial responsibilities including monthly closures and international VAT compliance for E-Commerce company. Team-oriented role with flexible working hours in a hybrid model.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly & annual financial statements: Participation in and preparation of monthly and annual closings, including management reports (BWA) and e‑commerce-specific accruals
  • Inventory valuation & COGS: Monitor inventory accounting, value inventories, and calculate and post cost of goods sold (COGS)
  • Payment transactions & liquidity management: Support cash-flow monitoring and ensure clean financial flows
  • Payment matching & reconciliation: Automated reconciliation of incoming payments (PayPal, Klarna, Shopify Payments) with ERP data
  • International VAT: Handling OSS (One-Stop Shop) procedures and the tax treatment of exports (especially to the USA)
  • Returns management: Accounting for returns and refunds
  • Interface management: Ensure and optimize the data flow between Shopify, ERP systems (e.g., Xentral) and accounting software (DATEV/Addison)
  • Process optimization: Further develop our digital accounting processes (GoBD-compliant)

Requirements

  • Completed vocational training as a tax clerk, accounting specialist, or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in financial accounting, ideally in e‑commerce
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Experience with monthly and annual financial closings
  • Confident English for collaboration with international partners (e.g., US tax advisors)
  • Experience with DATEV or Addison; ideally also with Shopify and ERP systems (e.g., Xentral)
  • Familiarity with payment service providers, especially PayPal and card processors
  • Structured, independent approach to work and a drive to challenge and improve processes
