Resident Engineer supervising large water and wastewater projects in Central Valley and Bakersfield/Fresno, California. Ensuring technical compliance and effective construction management for Stantec's projects.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the technical supervision for the construction phase of projects.
Responsible for supervising Stantec staff, including development of Management plans, tracking career progress, mentoring, advocating for and approving timesheets and training/development requests.
Manage inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients’ requirements.
Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors’ Requests for Information (RFIs) and review of submittals/shop drawings.
Serve as the primary point of contact on assigned construction contracts, with primary responsibility for construction contract administration and quality management.
Responsible for overall site safety, permit status compliance and coordination with other agencies.
Familiarity with construction procedures and scheduling of work sequences. Should be familiar with dewatering, backfilling and compaction of utility trenches, pavement/surface restoration, architectural and structural construction.
Provide technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality.
Manage office staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.
Monitor Contractor performance, quality, schedule, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness.
Exert influence over and maintain excellent relationships with Contractors to maintain project goals.
Manage the Contractor monthly payment process and recommend appropriate adjustments as necessary to manage the Contractor.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience on projects showing increasing responsibility.
Minimum of ten (10) years in a construction management role of water and wastewater related projects.
Registered Professional Engineer in CA or ability to become registered within one year.
CCM is preferred.
Position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.
