About the role

• Mechanical Field Service Engineer for SCHOTTEL installing and commissioning propulsion systems on various vessels. Conducting maintenance and providing technical support with significant travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission propulsion systems on various vessels.
• Conduct system start-ups and ensure proper functionality according to specifications.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections of propulsion systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, and execute repairs promptly.
• Replace or repair defective parts and components.
• Provide on-site technical support and training to customers.
• Respond to service calls and emergency repairs, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing their needs and concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, including reports on installations, maintenance, and repairs.
• Document technical issues and solutions for future reference.

Requirements

• Minimum degree of MBO-3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• +2 years of experience in mechanical field service, preferably in propulsion systems or a related industry.
• Proven track record of successful installations, maintenance, and repairs.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software used in the industry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Fluency in English.
• Dutch and French are a plus but not a must.
• Enjoy travelling (up to 80% of the time) and working in various environments, including onboard ships and industrial sites.
• A valid driver's license.
